Four Pillars of Business

1Consulting on the project of
traditional Japanese handscrolls

Since 2003, Hayano participated as a consultant to the TOPPAN Edge‘s project of producing a series of full-scale reproductions of the famous Japanese handscrolls, registered as National Treasures.
He was also involved in the international sales of the seven handscrolls already published, including “The Tale of Genji” and “Hell Scroll/Hungry Ghosts Scroll.” Both productions were highly reputed among public and university libraries in North America and West Europe.

2Translation work from Japanese
into English and vice versa

Hayano specializes in the field of fine arts, literature and culture-related events. He has done work such as captions and commentaries of artists for calendars, essays and short stories, among others. He works in collaboration with native speakers with whom an online network has been formed on a global basis.

3Planning and organizing concerts
for up-and-coming musicians

Shortly after founding e-Art Company, Hayano has organized several concerts a year for young, talented musicians, Japanese or non-Japanese. These concerts are held in a small concert hall of less than 200 audience members, who are supporters for these kinds of non-business events. Out of personal interest, Hayano has been associated with the Mario Lanza Ball in Philadelphia, and later became president of the Mario Lanza Society of Japan.
In the past three years, Hayano has spent his time focused on holding events for traditional Japanese performing arts such as Noh play, Hokan arts, Kodan and others.

4Publication and creative work
for art books and small booklets

Hayano’s bookmaking involves planning, editing, designing, printing and publishing in a professional manner. It is policy to meet a client’s needs in schedule, format, quantities and budget. Especially in art books, special research is carried out to present the artist’s personal records and list of works so that his life as well as achievements might be visible for future generations to come. It is important to do this because only history can judge the arts and the artists.
As for book design and binding, Hayano has a close relationship with a book designer who learned European bookmaking (or relieur) in France, which can create a gorgeous order made book.
